Film Industry imposes ban on Vikatan!

All the trade bodies including the film artist's union imposed a ban on renowned Tamil magazine Aananda Vikatan to making films or publishing interviews or news items about actors in future. This is because of the magazine's 'mischeivious attitude' over publish an article about legendary heroes of the Tamil film industry, MGR and Sivaji Ganesan written by write Jayamohan.

A couple of weeks ago, Aanada Vikatan carried a cover story about MGR and Sivaji written by Jayamohan. Actually it was not written for Vikatan. The author just published that article in his private, less viewing blog. But Vikatan lifted the item from that blog and gave the importance of lead story to that and even printed thousands of posters to give publicity for the same. After going through the article, thousands of die hard fans of both the legends demonstrated many protests including a day long hunger strike in front of Govt Estate, Chennai

They urged the publication to seek a public apology and publish the same in its immediate issue. But after the publication's failure to do so, the actor's union took the issue in their hands. Yesterday, the actor's union president Sarath Kumar convened an urgent meeting of the union at the premises of the same. All the leading actors except Rajini, Kamal, Vijay and Ajith gathered for the meeting and conveyed their strong feelings against the publication and the author of the article.

The Union demanded an unconditional apology from the writer, failing which he would be removed from the films Naan Kadavul and Angadi Theru, in both the films he is working as a dialogue writer. The meeting also passed resolutions condemning such acts. In their resolution, the union imposed ban on the magazine that no filmy organisation would co-operate to its forthcoming film Siva Manathil Sankathi and also no actors would give any interviews to the magazine till they come up with an unconditional apology for their acts.

Sarath Kumar, SS Rajendiran, Sathyaraj, Radha Ravi, Sivakumar, Manorama, Mumtaz, Rajesh and Prabhu delivered furious speeches condemning the writer and the magazine. Film Producer's Association President Rama. Narayanan and Film Chamber President KRG also conveyed their support for the actor's union stand on this issue. FEFSI, the strongest trade body of the Industry declared that they would not cooperate to the magazine and the writer until they would come up with an apology. Related links ONE INDIA
